Hi, how are you?  I hope you’re having fun and already enjoying the new year and looking forward to a great 2010.

As I speak it’s snowing here, and the garden is bathed in white.  It brings to mind the saying ‘pure as the driven snow’ which seems to have been a metaphor used by Shakespeare in various plays.

In delving into the link between mind and body – I found reference to an intriguing piece of research…

 

UCLA psychologist Golnaz Tabibnia [Psychological Science, April 2008; vol 19: pp 339-347]

researched the brain’s reaction to ‘fairness’ using an established test called the ‘ultimum game’ peoples’ perception of fairness in the sharing of resources is tested.

The value of looking sideways at life

Hi, just a short post on a situation that brought to mind both the value of new perspectives, and a big smile.

Yes, there is Edward de Bono’s well-known ‘lateral thinking’: “methods of thinking concerned with changing concepts and perception” [quote from Wikipedia on lateral thinking].  The techniques and ideas of which are usefully applied in problem solving.

In NLP, there’s a similar concept: ‘re-framing’.
